As founder of Outshine Diabetes, I am giving shape to a deep personal dream. I have had type 1 diabetes myself for over fifty years. When I was diagnosed in 1964, treatment for diabetes was unsophisticated and health care providers had limited tools with which to work. As new insulins and other medications were developed, expectations for good health and longevity for diabetics improved. Similarly, with the advent of exciting new technologies including sophisticated blood glucose meters, insulin pumps, and continuous glucose monitors, our horizons have expanded tremendously.
Medications and devices are a huge part of successful diabetes management, but another essential factor is teaming up with someone who understands and has expertise, who is willing to stand with you day to day, who is there to be your diabetes coach, your friend, your cheerleader. This is the piece that was missing for me as I was growing up with diabetes. This is the piece that I am inspired to provide every day to everyone who comes to me with the hope of making their life with diabetes better, easier, and healthier.
I am a Registered Dietitian, licensed as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in the state of Pennsylvania. I am also a Certified Diabetes Educator, and a Certified Pump and Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) trainer for numerous insulin pump and CGM companies. I worked for 18 years as a Renal Dietitian serving dialysis patients, many of whom had diabetes. I have worked for the past 18 years exclusively in the field of diabetes, and I plan to continue in this field for the rest of my career. Outshine Diabetes is my private venture which took shape in 2009, and has been growing steadily into a vibrant practice with each passing day. It is you, my clients, who are giving life to this personal dream of mine every moment of every day...
